Brattleboro, VT – Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) and the Town of Brattleboro are partnering with regional stakeholders to expand access to energy efficiency and clean energy improvements across the community. Together they are building a coordinated local market to attract investments that can lower energy costs, strengthen infrastructure, and support long term economic resilience. This collaboration will help create simple and effective pathways for residents and businesses to pursue energy upgrades and energy-related investment.
The Town of Brattleboro will lead community outreach with a focus on helping low income households explore plug-and-play solar. This will include public workshops, hands on demonstrations, and workforce learning opportunities for students. The Town is also collaborating with solar developers, community lenders, and housing partners to ensure this technology is easy to understand and easy to adopt. “This program is enabling the Town of Brattleboro to extend the benefits of the clean energy transition to all residents and energy users, both big and small. We are enthusiastic to see what new opportunities open up after completion of this work,” said Stephen Dotson, the town’s Sustainability Coordinator.
BDCC will convene lenders and developers to identify financing gaps, document best practices, and develop tools that expand investment in qualifying clean energy projects which the project will also identify. “The project provides new resources to move clean energy projects from ideas to action,” said Adam Grinold, BDCC’s Executive Director. “By working together with lenders, developers, and local partners, we are building the confidence and momentum needed to attract future investment and create long-term economic opportunities.”
The project is made possible by the Municipal Investment Fund, a 50-state strategy launched by Coalition for Green Capital (CGC) and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability USA (ICLEI USA) to empower communities to use public/private investing to accelerate the development and construction of smart infrastructure projects across the country.
