BDCC & SeVEDS Local Information Sessions
Southeastern, VT – Local residents are invited to information sessions being held around the region in order to learn more about the work of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) and Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS). Staff will provide a brief overview of BDCC & SeVEDS programs and projects, with the majority of time available for questions and answers with community members. BDCC & SeVEDS staff visit Selectboards at least once per year, but these events are being added to provide an additional forum in which members of the public have more opportunity to learn about BDCC & SeVEDS.
Attendees will hear updates on the new Southern Vermont Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS), the region’s strategic economic plan. The event will provide information on programs made possible by SeVEDS municipal investment. This includes community programs like BDCC’s Community Facilities Technical Assistance Program and the Southern Vermont Economy Project. Attendees will learn about business assistance, such as BDCC Microentrepreneur lending and technical assistance from startup to succession planning. They will also learn about BDCC & SeVEDS programs that help people of all ages, from career development for regional high school students with the new Pipelines and Pathways Program, to BDCC’s Paid Internship Program, to the SoVTYP Young Professionals which offers social networking as well as financial wellness and first-time home buyer classes. SeVEDS municipal funding is critical to making these and other programs possible.

About BDCC and SeVEDS:
The Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation is a private, nonprofit economic development organization that serves as a catalyst for industrial and commercial growth throughout Southeastern Vermont, including Windham County and the towns of Readsboro, Searsburg, Winhall and Weston. BDCC serves as the State of Vermont’s certified Regional Development Corporation (RDC) for the greater Windham County area. BDCC is one of 12 RDCs throughout Vermont. BDCC activities are made possible in part by a grant from the State of Vermont through the Agency of Commerce and Community Development. Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS) is an affiliate of BDCC that grew from a 2008 grassroots effort, initiated by BDCC, to understand and create long term strategies needed to reverse the economic decline of the Windham Region and plan for the economic impacts from the closure of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant. In 2014, after multiple years of regional input, education and data gathering, SeVEDS received federal approval for the Windham Region’s federally recognized S.M.A.R.T. Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). SeVEDS partnered with Bennington’s Regional Economic Development Group in 2018 to develop the 2019 Southern Vermont Zone CEDS.
