ENTREPRENEURSHIP AT THE SEPTEMBER IDEA JAM

Community Energy and Entrepreneurship at the Vermont Innovation Box: Reflections from BDCC’s September Idea Jam

BDCC hosted the first Idea Jam of 2021 on September 9 at the Vermont Innovation Box. Each “Idea Jam” is an opportunity for community members and aspiring entrepreneurs to share a new business idea they may have, with only a minute, and with no feedback from the audience.

Idea Jams encourage emerging entrepreneurs to share their business idea in front of other people. It’s an opportunity to organize and communicate these ideas, and helps them formulate goals to work towards.

R.T. Brown, Director of Business Services at BDCC gives the Idea Jam attendees a walkthrough of the process before kicking off the presentations

The September Idea Jam was run in partnership with the Vermont Innovation Box and hosted at their new facility on Landmark Hill in Brattleboro.

Over a dozen new business ideas were shared. Some incorporated innovations in property management, others focused on emerging materials, logistics and supply chain revisions, and agricultural education.

The Idea Jam indicates a new season in BDCC’s push to encourage entrepreneurship in the region which also includes the 2021 Windham Region Business Plan Competition – Applications to Compete are live now. November will also see the start of the “Foundations in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development” workshop series.
