This fall, BDCC partnered with Technology for Tomorrow to successfully deliver a Digital Skills for the Office and Workplace training series.
Held at the BDCCC Workforce Center of Excellence on Flat Street, the series brought together six adult learners for in-person classes focused on essential digital literacy and workplace software skills.
The training emphasized real-world applications and uses, with time for participants to actively practice what they’d learned during the sessions. T4T’s trainer “zoomed in”, but students met in a real classroom setting together, with BDCC staff providing support. “One of the things we like about hosting people in a classroom setting is that it encourages students to learn from each other, and ask questions as they gain confidence,” said Jen Stromsten, BDCC’s Director of Programs. “We are trying to bring high-quality curriculum and instruction to people using digital tools, but give them the advantages of in-person learning. This is the type of innovative partnership we need to deliver workforce development and education in rural places.”
The series was designed for job seekers and incumbent workers alike to strengthen their career readiness and workplace technology skills. Learners of varying backgrounds and skill levels joined to learn core office software platforms like Google Workspace and help position themselves for success in today’s job market and as entrepreneurs.
This training series reflects BDCC’s broader commitment to workforce development and community partnership. The Workforce Center of Excellence helps individuals learn about high wage, high growth career pathways available in our community and set them on a path to succeed while supporting local employers in finding a workforce that is equipped with important skills. Thank you to Technology for Tomorrow for their diligence and flexibility, helping deliver the content in ways to accommodate each learner’s needs.
