Press Release: New BDCC BizConnect Series Brings Together Windham Region Businesses and Entrepreneurs To Share Experiences and Solve Problems
Monthly Business Meetup Kicks Off Wednesday, July 31 at 5:00 PM at Bizitown Workspace in Brattleboro.
Southern Vermont – In towns throughout Vermont’s Windham Region, small business operators and entrepreneurs can sometimes feel isolated. To connect rural businesspeople with networking opportunities and peer support, Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) is introducing BDCC BizConnect in collaboration with local business organizations. This free new monthly meetup series is designed to bring together rural businesspeople to foster connections, build community, and solve commonly faced problems. The first event for this new group will be held at the new Bizitown Workspace co-working space in the DeWitt Block building on Flat Street in Brattleboro, Vermont. Future events will be held in communities across the region as well as in Brattleboro.
The Brattleboro kickoff event is from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM on Wednesday, July 31, hosted in partnership with the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Brattleboro DBA, will feature introductory remarks from BDCC’s Executive Director Adam Grinold, along with Guest Speaker Christophe Gagné, former President and Brewmaster of Hermit Thrush Brewery, followed by a Q&A. Refreshments will be provided. The meetup is free, but registration is required. Attendees may sign up at brattleborodevelopment.com/bizconnect/.
“We’ve been hearing from business owners around the region that this kind of resource is sorely needed,” says Grinold, “especially by small businesses and entrepreneurs in communities who don’t have easy access to a Chamber of Commerce or business association. BDCC wants businesses from Londonderry to Vernon to know that they’re not alone. Odds are, other businesses out there have faced the same challenges as you, and they can be an invaluable resource.” He says BDCC BizConnect is designed as a forum to ask questions and crowd-source solutions. “The real focus here is generating dialogue between business owners, helping them to form connections and community within our small towns and across the region,” he explains, “and not about selling services or products.”
According to Grinold, the goal for BDCC BizConnect is to support entrepreneurs who may not have easy access to localized business support and ensure they connect with local Chambers, downtown organizations – and most importantly, fellow entrepreneurs from across the entire Windham Region.
“We are kicking off in Brattleboro with the first of our planned monthly meetups,” said Grinold, “and then BDCC BizConnect will be hosting future events in communities across the Windham Region. Our goal is to make life easier for local businesses – so we don’t expect you to come to us, we’re coming to you.”
