Seventeen businesses answered the call for opportunity and submitted registration forms.

Quick Pitch events were hosted by BDCC partners in this series, the Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce, Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce, Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce and One Londonderry‘s fledgling Business Alliance.

The intent of these pitch events is to harness the collective entrepreneurial spirit in the region and to support the development of participants’ respective business ventures.

Holly Betit with Care in Vermont said it was a “fun event at the White House last week for the first round….and connected to a Chamber event- even better! I wish all grants were this fun to apply for!!”

Participant businesses were in all phases of growth of new projects and expansion projects for both new and existing businesses. Products and services offered range from custom snowboards to in-home health care service, logically designed modular washrooms to an oxygen bar.

“This opportunity has really gotten me to think about the future potential of my business than I ever have before,” said Kelsey Baumgarten about her experience following the pitch event.”

Thirteen of this year’s participants are moving forward into the Semi-Final Round. Each will leverage the support of BDCC staff and utilize online software to write a full business plan.

Judges will review the participants’ plans, and select which businesses will move on to the final round and Pitch at the September 14th Final Event, to be held at the Next Stage Theatre in Putney, VT.

The Brattleboro Reformer and The Peak Radio are the media sponsors, and many of the participants would not have been informed of this opportunity had it not been for their regular advertisement.
