Reblog: Brattleboro prepares for portable solar opportunities

BRATTLEBORO — A new initiative seeks to prepare the community for portable solar opportunities for smaller residential and larger commercial locations.

“Brattleboro has been selected as the site of a potential pilot program for distributing these systems, and the Town is gathering data on who would benefit, to help build support for the effort,” brattleboro.gov/portablesolar states. “Portable solar (also called plug-and-play solar) uses small solar panels that can be placed on a deck, balcony, roof, or ground rack.”

Systems up to about 1,200 watts or about three panels may be allowed, according to the website, depending on final state rules. The systems can be moved to another location if someone relocates and expanded if a household needs more power, the site states.
