Registration Open for Southern VT Economy Summit

Registration is now open for the 6th Annual Southern Vermont Economy Summit. This day-long event will be held on Tuesday, May 23 2023 at the Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain in Wilmington, Vermont. The theme is “Forging our Future.” Registration information, and a schedule of events, can be found at www.sovermontzone.com/summit

The 2023 Summit features a wide range of topics that are top of mind for Southern Vermonters. However you are connected to the work of forging our region’s future – as a business owner, a municipal leader, or an active community member – you’ll find engaging content to inspire and inform.

The Summit opens with keynote speaker Rob Riley, President of the Northern Forest Center (NFC). Rob speaks to the ways the NFC is bringing new ideas and resources to communities, accelerating innovation and investment across geographic, social and ideological boundaries.

Over the day, choose from 10 breakout sessions: panels with featured speakers, seminars, and interactive workshops. Highlights include speakers from Kingdom Trails, along with Carrie Simmons of the Stowe Area Association, talking about ways we can strengthen connections between Vermont’s recreational assets and the local small business economy. Or dive into efforts to help our region’s youth stay in or return to Vermont, hearing directly from young people about their needs and aspirations. For business owners, Joanne Randall will lead a ‘back to basics’ seminar on best practices for structuring your marketing plan. If you are looking for some good ideas for revitalizing your town center, don’t miss the midday ‘Steal this Idea!’ workshop.

Program details can be found at the Summit website:  www.sovermontzone.com. Check the site for updated content, including small group networking opportunities, roundtable discussions, and funder panels that will take place in the late afternoon.

The Summit is made possible in part by this year’s Summit Sponsor Brattleboro Savings and Loan, as well as our location sponsor, the Hermitage Club.

The Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation and Bennington County Regional Commission host the Summit on behalf of the Southern Vermont Economic Development Zone. The Summit is part of the Southern Vermont Economy Project, which helps build capacity, expertise and resources in the Zone with support from the USDA Rural Community Development Initiative.
