BDCC loves seeing our tenants shine!
Local artist and BDCC Cotton Mill tenant since 2016, Will Alderfer of W.R. Metalarts is bringing his stunning, ethically and sustainably sourced custom jewelry to Manchester this month. Check out his upcoming pop-ups December 18th-23rd at 4945 Main Street in Manchester, VT.
Will’s pop-up is supported by a BDCC small business loan, which helped cover space rental, inventory, and advertising. Will brings a strong, grounded command of numbers and analytics to his business, using data not just to track performance, but to guide thoughtful, intentional growth. He consistently evaluates what is working, what can be improved, and where opportunities exist, pairing quantitative insight with a long-term vision rooted in sustainability and community impact.
This approach is evident in his growth strategy over the past two years. Last year, Will tested the concept of a pop-up location in Brattleboro to explore expansion without overextending resources. He treated the pop-up as an ideation and learning opportunity, closely analyzing customer response, sales patterns, staffing needs, and operational flow. Building on those insights, he chose to return this year with a second pop-up in a new location, demonstrating continued process improvement and a willingness to refine the model based on his experience.
This strategic “test and learn” approach has supported an increase in employees that will extend beyond the holiday season. While Will serves customers across the country and around the world, he remains deeply curious about and committed to what focused local investment can build: stable jobs and stronger community connections.
