C&S Wholesale Invests in BDCC Career Education Program
At the 2023 Southern Vermont Economy Summit employer and education partners announced investments that will carry the Pipelines and Pathways Program forward.
Brattleboro, VT – C&S Wholesale Grocers has announced a commitment of $60,000 to high school career education through the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation’s Pipelines and Pathways Program (P3).
C&S investment in Pipelines and Pathways will enable BDCC to bring career education classes, events and work experiences to hundreds of Windham County students each year. P3 helps young people understand the occupations available to them, understand how to access those opportunities, and build the skills necessary to do so. C&S offers hundreds of career opportunities in Vermont, and nearby Massachusetts and New Hampshire, ranging from forklift operators to merchandising analysts.
This spring, when M&T Bank announced a three year investment in P3, they challenged employers to join them. As one of the region’s largest employers, C&S stepped up and matched that investment. C&S been a core partner since the start with BDCC’s high school programming, hosting field trips and participating in P3 activities like the BF Trades Job Fair, Reality Fair and Fearless Futures events at regional high schools.
As an industry leader in supply chain solutions and wholesale grocery, C&S serves customers of all sizes, supplying more than 7,500 independent supermarkets, chain stores, military bases and institutions with over 100,000 different products.
“Investment and engagement by employers like C&S will make it possible for us to serve hundreds of students each year,” said Adam Grinold, BDCC’s Executive Director. BDCC launched the Pipelines & Pathways Program (P3) five years ago to help every student build career knowledge and skills they need to thrive, regardless of whether they are college or career bound after graduation.
