It’s About to Get Real!
BDCC’s Pipelines and Pathways Program (P3) is hosting its first-ever Reality Fair at Leland & Gray Middle/High School on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 8 am to 1:30 pm. More than 70 volunteers from local businesses and organizations will support students in this thoroughly interactive, hands-on experience that covers financial literacy and practical life skills all Windham County students need to confidently take their first steps into the adult world. Juniors and seniors, along with their chaperones from Bellows Falls Union High School, the Windham Regional Career Center, and Leland & Gray High School have already participated in orientation sessions to prepare for the event. Brattleboro Union High School Twin Valley High School will receive training on October 12 and October 18, respectively. In the past several weeks, P3 has done outreach and volunteer training , and it’s clear that excitement is building for this unique, fun, community-building event.
Pictured, students from Linda Alvarez’s Business Level II Class at WRCC are ready to serve as “Financial Advisors” on event-day as part of their community service hours. They’ll help students navigate the in’s and out’s of balancing their monthly budgets. P3 is hosting this event in partnership with Leland & Gray High School and the Windham Regional Career Center.

BDCC’s Pipelines and Pathways Program (P3) provides employment oriented career-planning for the region’s high school students. It brings training in 21st Century skills, work-based learning, and personal learning plan (PLP) engagement opportunities to all four public high schools in Windham County. The program assists in developing workforce-oriented curricula, expanding classroom relationships, and growing work-based learning through opportunities with local employers. It also supports teachers working face to face with students to implement personal learning plans and seize the myriad opportunities presented by Vermont’s Flexible Pathways Initiative under Act 77. Pipelines & Pathways is a BDCC Workforce Center of Excellence program based on SeVEDS strategies to increase the size and quality of the workforce.
