Learn About VLCT’s Federal Funds Assistance Program

“VLCT’s Federal Funds Assistance Team is Here to Help Your Town Find Funding”

As part of the Southern Vermont Economy Project’s “Knowledge Bites” series, the Vermont League of Cities and Towns Federal Funds Assistance team (Katie Buckley and Bonnie Waninger) presented their program and answered questions from ARPA Committee members and other Town officials on Tuesday, January 24th.

The Knowledge Bites series is designed to present timely and straightforward information to help community projects of all shapes and sizes access resources and move forward. The short programs take place during the lunch hour and are recorded for future watching. Find the entire archive at https://brattleborodevelopment.com/knowledge-bites/.

Tuesday’s call started with a quick review of the entire suite of services that are available to member towns through VLCT. Katie Buckley then provided an overview of ARPA funds in Vermont, with the important reminder that the “Standard Allowance” provision, issued in January 2022, means that local ARPA funds can now be used as required grant match (or ‘local share’) for other grants, even federal grants.

Given that towns now have access to unprecedented amounts of funding, the Federal Funds Assistance Program (FFA) was created by VLCT to help provide added capacity to towns as they navigate through the voluminous stack of available programs. As FFA  puts it, “now is the time to turn your ideas into actions but you need help. Whether it is taking the very first step or removing a stumbling block along the way, we can provide added capacity…”

We invite anyone who is working with their town on completing priority projects through the use of ARPA (and other) funds to take some time to watch the recording of Katie’s presentation. In about 30 minutes, you’ll get some great perspective on how to best use federal funding in your small town, and get know how FFA can help you get connected to partners and appropriate funding sources every step of the way.
