Pashto Video Breast Cancer Screening

A Step Toward Inclusivity: BMH’s Educational Videos for Refugee Communities

Thanks to a grant from the National Breast Cancer Foundation Patient Relief Grant, secured by Karen Grinold of Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, new outreach and education resources have been developed for the growing local community of New Americans.  Educational videos about healthcare procedures were created with help from Vermont Language Justice Project including a video about how getting a mammogram at BMH translated into Pashto, one of the primary languages spoken by Afghan people. Additional languages are currently in progress.

The videos will be available on YouTube, the Vermont Language Justice Project website, and the BMH website and Facebook page. Other translated educational videos filmed around Vermont are available for many other topics on the Vermont Language Justice Project website as well. Special thanks to everyone who helped with the project!
