Employers Share Innovations & Challenges a “Expand Your Talent Options” Events

On Thursday 35 employers and training partners gathered for the second in the “Expand Your Talent Options” series offered through a partnership between BDCC and BAHRN, the Brattleboro Area Human Resources Network.

The event featured a panel of experienced HR professionals: Robyn Lucius from Against the Grain, Luella Strattner from Wheelpad, and Mona Williams from Cota & Cota. They shared some of the innovative ways in which their organizations have expanded their own talent options by adapting their approach to hiring and training. Participants did speed round discussions to share recruitment and retention ideas, including those that have worked, those they want to try, those that haven’t worked, and those they hope to try soon.

Led by Jenn Jacobs of AdaptivaHR, the four part monthly series is designed to both facilitate peer learning and help each participant focus on managing change within their own organization. Registration is open for the April session – don’t worry if you’ve missed previous events. Each one is designed to work as a standalone, or part of the series. One of the things that participants are enjoying most is the chance to gather with professional peers, something that BAHRN used to facilitate routinely prior to 2020. If you are interested in registering for the series, or just getting involved in BAHRN, check out this link or contact Jennifer Jacobs jennifer@adaptivahr.com.

This event is made possible by the Workforce Center of Excellence (WFCoE), an employer-driven workforce and career training and education initiative of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation. The WFCoE leverages BDCC’s relationships with employers and workforce development partners, supporting both sides of the labor exchange to connect people with opportunity, and employers with the talent they need. The WFCoE is funded in part by a Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) grant from the Northern Borders Regional Commission and US Department of Labor’s Employment & Training Administration (ETA).
