Meet Your Young Professional Steering Committee Member: John Pritchard
John Pritchard is an Associate Attorney at Fitts, Olson, & Giddings, P.L.C. He generally practices a combination of criminal defense, family law, estate planning, and general litigation. John initially came to the state in 2014 for law school and immediately decided he wanted to stay in Vermont. He received his Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School and moved to Brattleboro after passing the July 2017 Bar Exam. A year later, he joined the Southern Vermont Young Professionals Steering Committee.
John is originally from Florida, and while he loves everything Vermont has to offer, he misses the ocean. John’s favorite activities are playing ultimate Frisbee, exploring Vermont and everything there is to experience here, particularly our excellent breweries, reading, and playing music. He also considers himself a musician, even though he is not that great at any of the instruments that he can play.
When asked what is SoVermont to him, John said “Southern Vermont is where I will be setting up my life for the foreseeable future. The community offers a wide array of industries, services, and opportunities and I am looking forward to making the area my home.” His two biggest accomplishments that he holds most dear are passing the bar exam and being able to flip fried eggs without breaking the yolk.
John feels that Southern Vermont offers young professionals an opportunity to shape and develop a community and steer the community towards goals and ideas that we believe will benefit the entire community, not just young professionals. We often see ourselves as future leaders and this area provides great potential for us to develop ourselves along with the community.
We asked John to share one fun fact about himself, and he said: “When I was a child, I thought that, if I tried hard enough, I could fly like Peter Pan. Unfortunately, the couch in my parent’s living room had other ideas.” If you want to learn more about John, you can find him at our of our YP events.
