Vermont Business Relief Program Receives National Award
Vermont’s Regional Development Corporations (RDCs) received a 2021 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). This national award recognizes the 12 RDCs of Vermont that make up the state’s economic development network, for the innovative Restart Vermont Technical Assistance Program (ReVTA). During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ReVTA provided 512 businesses and non-profits with technical assistance, 401 of which also received grants that enabled them to recover from the pandemic impacts and pivot towards the future.
ReVTA helped organizations from every sector and 80% of them had 5 employees or less. Grants averaged $2,554 with funds paid directly to primarily Vermont-based vendors, providing a double benefit to the Vermont economy. ReVTA grants enabled organizations to pursue customized solutions. Recovery Navigators at each RDC worked one-on-one with businesses and non-profits to determine the best form of technical assistance that would put them on a path to recovery.
“We are honored to be recognized by NADO for the ReVTA program,” stated RDC President Fred Kenney. “The positive impact of this program highlights the power of the RDC network in Vermont.”
Funding for ReVTA was allocated by the Vermont General Assembly in Act 137. The RDCs of Vermont were among five organizations selected to implement Restart programming across the state. More information on ReVTA impacts can be found at www.VermontEconomicDevelopment.com.
Later this fall, ReVTA 2.0 will be introduced, following a similar format with support from RDCs across the state. To learn more, sign up for your local RDC newsletter. For a map and contact information, visit https://www.vermonteconomicdevelopment.com/find-your-rdc.
