Includes representatives from the 2019 Southern Vermont CEDS Committee
BDCC and SeVEDS have announced the 2018 CEDS Project Review Committee. The Project Review Committee reviews and ranks regional public, private and non-profit sector projects submitted annually for inclusion in the Windham Region’s award winning Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
The 2018 Committee members are: Vicki Capitani, Deerfield Valley News; Todd Fahey, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital; Jill James, Chroma Technology Corp; Martin Langeveld, Town of Vernon Planning Commision; Leigh Marthe, Community College of Vermont; Steve Neratko, Town of Dover; Kate O’Connor, Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce; David Rees, Bennington College; Tim Scoggins, Town of Shaftsbury; Serenity Wolf, M&S Development.
The Windham Region CEDS is a 5 year strategic plan for growing the 27 town Windham region which was completed in 2014 using a federally prescribed process. In addition to the strategic action plan, projects which can help to grow the economy are solicited from throughout the region for inclusion in the CEDS. Every year BDCC reports the progress made on implementation of both the CEDS strategic action plan and updates on CEDS submitted projects to the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).
Every year new projects and updates on projects are solicited and ranked according to the CEDS Project Review Committee’s assessment of their ability to meet the goals of the CEDS strategic action plan for growing the 27 town Windham Region Economy. That process is open through February 19th, 2018. Detailed information on the submission process, timelines and benefits of participation can be found at https://brattleborodevelopment.com/ceds-projects/. This year projects will be grouped into categories according to their type i.e. infrastructure, major private sector investments, start-ups and others.
Project Review Committee members may not be members of either the BDCC or SeVEDS Board of Directors. They are selected based on geographic and sector diversity. This year’s review committee includes two members of the Bennington Region Economic Development (RED) strategies group. Hough Bennington region projects are not eligible for submission this year, the RED group will be working with SeVEDS to develop the five year required renewal of the 2014 Windham Region CEDS. The 2019 Southern Vermont Economic Development Zone CEDS will be developed utilizing the same grassroots data driven process that created the 2014 Windham Region CEDS.
Project rankings announcements will be made on May 30th 2018 at the 2nd Annual Southern Vermont Economic Development Summit.
