Fall 2024 BDCC Adult Healthcare Careers Series Wraps Up
Above: BDCC Adult Healthcare training participants pose with a training mannequin at Vermont State University (VTSU) and Community College of Vermont (CCV)’s lab facility in Brattleboro.
This Fall, BDCC hosted a workforce development training series in Healthcare for Adults. Over the course of 4 weeks, the training, entitled “Healthcare Careers Workshop for Adults,” aimed to educate individuals interested in entering healthcare, or changing course in their healthcare career.
We start by helping students explore the wide range (and number) of healthcare career options available throughout the region. While most are familiar with patient care roles like nursing, there are truly hundreds of different jobs from occupational therapy and lab work, to radiology and billing. Through videos, site visits, speakers and even virtual reality, the class expanded everyone’s knowledge of different career pathways in healthcare.
Also included in the workshop were opportunities to connect with employers and education experts via field trips and class visits on how to make an appropriate next step in their healthcare career. All four individuals who participated in the training completed the course, and are working on the next step. Congratulations to our participants!
Special thanks to Vermont Department of Labor, HireAbility, Garden Path Elder Care, CCV, VTSU, River Valley Community College, VSAC, and Southern Vermont AHEC for their helping make this class a success.

About the Workforce Center of Excellence
The Workforce Center of Excellence (WFCoE) is a workforce and career training and education initiative of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation that helps people take the next step in their career pathway. It supports youth and adults, with a special focus on New Americans and women, providing one-to-one assistance, supportive services and career readiness training.
