Neighborhood Connections Unveils “Mountain Town Connector” Rural Transportation Service

Rides with the Connector are free for community members

Yesterday, Neighborhood Connections, one of BDCC’s community partners in Londonderry, had an open house for their new “Mountain Town Connector” van service. BDCC has been working with Neighborhood Connections through our Community Facilities Technical Assistance and Training Program that we run on behalf of USDA Rural Development.

The Mountain Town Connector came out of what Neighborhood Connections saw as a need to support rural community members who had critical appointments but lacked reliable transportation. There is now no criteria to schedule a ride with the Mountain Town Connector, but medical-related rides are prioritized. The service may also grow to support rural grocery delivery, recreational activities, and transportation to and from Neighborhood Connections offices.

The Connector is staffed Tuesday through Thursday by Buddy Stevens, the Transportation Coordinator, and Neighborhood Connections is seeking volunteers in the area to cover for a full five-days-a-week of service.

The Community Facilities Technical Assistance and Training Program is available to assist projects like the Mountain Town Connector that generate from a non-profit or town within the Windham Region. To learn more about CF-TAT, visit the program page.
