Pathways of Vermont
Pathways of Vermont is a project started by Angela Snow from To The Moon Productions, with support from BDCC, to show that a four-year collage pathway is not the only way to have an “interesting, lucrative and sustainable life.” This short video documentary series follows skilled workers as they talk about the non-traditional route of how they got to where they are today working as a carpenter, a manufacturing CNC machine operator, and a nurse. Meet the incredible people breaking stereotypes in the videos found here.
The series also includes short videos that provide a background on the data behind workforce demand, including insights about career opportunities in Vermont from Kevin Chu from the Vermont Futures Project. These materials are great for educators, parents, career coaches and guidance teams because they provide the big picture understanding of workforce demand in Vermont, along with detailed and personal examples anyone can relate to.
BDCC will be using the videos as part of its Workforce Center of Excellence programming geared to high schoolers, young adults, women, new Americans and adults without college degrees.
BDCC’s Workforce Center of Excellence (WFCoE) is a workforce and career training and education initiative that supports youth, adults, New Americans, and women in taking their next step in a career pathway. Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) provides one-to-one assistance, supportive services and career readiness training. The WFCoE leverages BDCC’s relationships with employers and regional workforce development partners, supporting both sides of the labor exchange to connect people with opportunity, and employers with the talent they need. The WFCoE is funded by a Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) grant from the Northern Borders Regional Commission and US Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA).
