Occupations and Libations: A Taste of Careers in the Food & Beverage industries
October 18, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
Join some of Windham County’s finest food and beverage employers for a fun, relaxing networking event from 5pm-7pm on October 18th, immediately after the 6th Annual Career Expo at Hermit Thrush Brewery in Downtown Brattleboro.
Featuring six different regional employers, this event will provide job-seekers and Expo participants a look under the hood as to how their favorite foods and drinks are produced, and how they end up in our restaurants, fridges, and pantries. Small tastes and sips will be available, and Expo-attendees and community members of all ages are invited for informal networking.
“Most people aren’t aware that ‘Non-durable goods manufacturing’, or value-added food production, is one of Windham County’s fastest growing sectors. Between our stellar small-scale brewers and distillers, granola makers, coffee roasters, cheese and yogurt producers, and baked goods manufacturers, the value-added food industry provides hundreds of high-wage, high-growth employment opportunities throughout the county.”
Representatives from Mocha Joes Coffee Roasting, Big Picture Farms, Commonwealth Dairy, Against the Grain, Backroad Granola, LePage Bakeries, Hermit Thrush Brewery and Whetstone Station, along with other Expo Exhibitors and attendees, will be amongst the minglers sharing upcoming openings.
Occupations and Libations event Is co-sponsored by the Southern Vermont Young Professionals group, a program of th Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) and Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS).
“Here in Southern Vermont, we’re all professionals: from brewers and production line workers to lawyers and nurses. With the value-added food sector growing so quickly, the Southern Vermont Young Professionals are always looking for ways to highlight those careers that could potentially attract a younger population and provide growth opportunities,” says Sarah Lang, coordinator of the Southern Vermont Young Professionals.
Occupations and Libations is organized by the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation’s Southern Vermont Workforce Center of Excellence.
