Robinson hired by BDCC as SeVEDS Director of Workforce Development

Moulton Powden assumes Executive Director role at BDCC
Andrew Robinson will be joining the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) staff as the Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS) Director of Workforce Development.

 

The SeVEDS Director of Workforce position was created in 2012 to add capacity for tackling the region’s workforce development challenges and filling the position was one of three major goals the SeVEDS board identified for fiscal year 2013. The position has been funded by SeVEDS in partnership with regional municipalities and BDCC and was vacated at the end of 2013 by Patricia Moulton Powden who has replaced retiring Jeffrey Lewis as the Executive Director of BDCC. With the impending loss of over 600 regional jobs at Vermont Yankee, Powden is pleased to have found such a highly qualified and connected replacement.

Current SeVEDS workforce projects underway include a 5 year hiring projection for the top 50 employers, working with the regions 6 colleges, the Windham Higher Education Collaborative, on hiring an Internship Coordinator and expanding cooperative workforce development planning and projects with Bennington County.

 

Robinson comes to BDCC from the Vermont Department of Labor (VDOL) where he is an Employer Resource Consultant. During his time with VDOL he has established excellent contacts with employers throughout Windham County and is well versed in federal and state workforce programs.  He has been a member of the SeVEDS Workforce Committee. While Andy has extensive workforce development experience, he also has extensive experience in the private sector. He was Operations Manager at Sojourns Health Clinic, Financial Manager at World Learning and General Manager at Jack Tarmy Lumber.

 

Andy will be starting on January 13 and is ready to further develop and accelerate existing regional workforce programs and partnerships.
