SeVEDS 2017-2018 Municipal Fundraising
Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS) is petitioning to be listed as an article on the 2017 Town Warning to support the continued implementation of the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS) through the 2017 SeVEDS Work Plan. The efforts include; the Fast Tracks to Success Program which is a high school awareness program in all four of the Windham County High Schools, a College Internship Program, the Southern Vermont Young Professionals, and several other projects throughout the region.
2017 marks the fifth year in a row SeVEDS has requested municipal support from each town in the Windham Region. The funds previously raised have helped fund the Windham Region hiring inventory, the Southern Vermont Accelerator Feasibility Study and the Green Building cluster analysis, also known as the Ecovation Hub. Many towns over the years have chosen to include the funding request in their budget or list the funding request as a separately warned article. While many other towns have suggested petitioning the request to be included on the warning. Last year, we successfully petitioned three towns in the WIndham Region and this year are looking to increase this number. SeVEDS will be petitioning in the towns of Brattleboro, Westminster, Vernon, Marlboro, Newfane, Dummerston and Guildford to be included as a warning on the 2017-2018 Town Warning.
Please considering supporting the ongoing SeVEDS efforts by printing the petition (found at the below link), completing it and emailing or scanning a picture of the completed petition to Kristin Mehalick, SeVEDS Project Manager at kmehalick@brattleborodevelopment.com. Before signing the petition, please note you must be a registered voter of the town. Signing this petition does not necessarily mean you agree with funding but it give us the opportunity to attend Town Meeting Day and speak with residents and answer questions.
All petitions are due no later than Wednesday, January 18th.
