Business Ideas from Bellows Falls to Dover: Local Quick Pitch Events in the Windham Region

BDCC hosted twoQuick Pitch events on June 8th and 9th at the Flat Iron Cooperative in Bellows Falls, and Trail 87 in Dover respectively. These Quick Pitch events kicked off another season of events designed to encourage entrepreneurship in the region as part of the Windham Region Business Plan Competition. Applications to Compete in the Business Plan Competition are live until June 24th. Fill one out and attend one of the next two Quick Pitch Events are scheduled for June 16th, and June 23rd at River Garden Marketplace, Brattleboro and New American Grill, Londonderry respectively.

These first two Quick Pitch Events were run in partnership with the Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Brattleboro Reformer and The Peak Radio were media sponsors for the events.

The intent this year was to make the Pitch events accessible to residents around the region. Each Quick Pitch is an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners to share their idea of for a new venture or expansion of an existing one. They have 2 minutes to share the idea, the problem it solves, who they are, and what skills make them and their team qualified. Pitch events foster entrepreneurial energy in the region by providing emerging entrepreneurs a platform from which to share their business idea in front of other people. It’s an opportunity to organize and communicate these ideas, and helps them formulate goals to work towards.

BDCC’s Business Technical Assistance Provider, Eyad Salha gives attendees a walkthrough of BDCC Business Services before kicking off the pitches.

There were 8 pitches made in Bellows Falls and Dover. Some incorporated innovations in sustainable food systems, body products, or property development. Others focused on youth activities, logistics and local supply chain, and agricultural education.
