Next Up: Financial Management Training for Projects
In early June, the Southern Vermont Economy Project 2.0 launched its 2020 Project Development Series. Sometimes all it takes is one successful project in a community to spark positive change. Southern Vermont does not lack great ideas. But we can all use a little help! This series helps organizations turn great ideas into effective projects, with sustainable funding, successful implementation and management.
The second training in this four-part series is Financial Management for Projects. Part 1, being held on June 25th, will focus on the budget basics (from “what is a budget?” to “keeping the tills safe). Gary Deziel, our trainer, is an Extension assistant professor for UVM Extension. His work focuses on public library budgeting and human resource management, and workforce development. He is former Associate Dean of Finance and Operations, UVM Extension. Gary has experience in budgeting and budget management, grants and contracts, fund accounting, gifts, endowments, cash management, petty cash, and sales and fees.
Part 2, being held on June 26th, will focus on capital budgets, walking through a real live project budget, and different avenues for “getting more money” (endowment, gifts, fundraising, grants, loans, bonds, private investment, revenue, loans).
